The artwork is illuminated by an expansive yellow field, punctuated by crimson, turquoise, green, blue and white. Rounded masses are crossed by pointed extensions, circular openings and detached forms, creating an energetic balance between density and openness. Thick impasto intensifies the warmth of the dominant colour, while white space allows the silhouette to breathe. The composition’s radiating movement and interconnected forms suggest Venezuela’s expansive landscapes and layered cultural memory, held together through a vivid rhythm of continuity and renewal.

Venezuela stretches from the Caribbean coast across the Andes and Llanos to the forests of the Guiana Highlands and the Orinoco basin. Indigenous societies shaped these regions long before Spanish colonisation. Independence, achieved through the struggles of the early nineteenth century, placed Venezuela at the heart of South America’s liberation era. Venezuelan culture brings together Indigenous, African and European inheritances within a richly varied national identity. Spanish predominates alongside numerous Indigenous languages. Joropo, distinctive regional musical traditions, oral storytelling, literature, architecture, weaving and contemporary visual culture reflect the country’s geographical and cultural breadth.
