August 31, 2026 — The Architecture of Humanity: The Structure of the Human World in the Oeuvre of Gheorghe Virtosu has been published and made openly available through Zenodo, establishing a new critical study of the artistic practice and visual language of contemporary artist Gheorghe Virtosu.
The publication approaches Virtosu’s oeuvre not simply as a collection of individual paintings, but as an interconnected visual system through which questions of human identity, memory, power, conflict, culture, history and collective experience are examined.
At the centre of the book is the concept of an “architecture of humanity”: the proposition that the apparently fragmented figures, symbols, colours and abstract structures found throughout Virtosu’s paintings form part of a larger investigation into the organization and experience of the human world.
Rather than treating abstraction as a departure from human reality, the study considers how Virtosu uses abstraction to reconstruct it.
