El Arte Monumental

Investigating Human Civilization Through Painting and Artistic Research

The Art Monumental Cultural Association in Barcelona promotes monumental, abstract, and biomorphic contemporary art through exhibitions, projects, and large-scale works.

El Arte Monumental is an independent centre for artistic research examining the structural systems that organize human civilization. Through painting, interdisciplinary scholarship, exhibitions, and publications, we investigate Identity, Belief, Conflict, and Power as interconnected architectures shaping human societies.

Research Method

El Arte Monumental is built through a research process based on artist interviews, artwork monographs, and the study of artistic development over time.

Each interview helps reveal the conceptual structure behind the work: the artist’s recurring questions, methods, influences, visual language, and the deeper logic connecting individual artworks.

Visitors are encouraged to begin with the Interview page. It offers the clearest entry point into the research and helps situate each artwork within the broader conceptual framework of El Arte Monumental.

The interviews are not supplementary material. They are part of the research itself.

Why Painting?

The Architecture of Humanity is a long-term interdisciplinary research programme integrating artistic practice with systems theory, complexity science, philosophy, history, political theory, and the humanities to investigate the fundamental structures that organize civilization.

Human civilization is shaped by systems that extend beyond political events or cultural narratives. El Arte Monumental investigates these underlying architectures through artistic research, contributing new interdisciplinary perspectives on how societies are organized, transformed, and sustained.

Collaborate

El Arte Monumental collaborates with museums, universities, research institutions, cultural organisations, foundations, and galleries to advance artistic research through exhibitions, publications, scholarly exchange, and international partnerships. We welcome collaborations that contribute to the study of human civilization through art.

Collectors

Collectors play an essential role in preserving works that contribute to artistic research and cultural knowledge. El Arte Monumental offers opportunities to acquire significant paintings while supporting exhibitions, publications, and the long-term development of research into the structural systems that organize human civilization.

Support Artistic Research
